Another great blog post today by Sarah Bond, Katherine Blouin, and Monica Hanna: there’s nothing neutral or apolitical about archaeologists wearing the outfits of 19th c. or early 20th c. colonialist conquerors, like Indiana Jones. Archaeologists today work *with* local archaeologists, and see their colleagues as equals, not as servants.

In general, as we approach Halloween, think about the costumes you’re planning, and what other people – especially oppressed or marginalized people – might feel if they saw you dressed up that way. There are plenty of costumes available that won’t spoil anyone’s day.
