Playing Backgammon

Beginning about 3000 BC, back-gammon was one of the most popular games in ancient Mesopotamia and elsewhere in West Asia (like in Persia (modern Iran)). You can make a backgammon board by painting on a piece of wood, and then making the pieces out of clay. In the picture, they've just used ordinary dice, but you could also make your own dice out of clay.

In addition to making a backgammon board, you could learn to play backgammon and maybe hold a backgammon tournament in your class or with your friends. People in ancient West Asia gambled on backgammon games, but you don't have to!
